LA CROSSE LITHO SUPPLY NAMED TO INAUGURAL INC. 5000 LIST
Inc. has ranked La Crosse Litho Supply, LLC #4,229 on its first-ever Inc. 5,000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in the country. The Inc. 5,000, an extension of Inc. magazine’s annual Inc. 500 list, catches many businesses that are too big to grow at the pace required to make the Inc. 500, as well as a host of smaller firms. Taken as a whole, these companies represent the backbone of the U.S. economy.
“The Inc. 5,000 provides the most comprehensive look ever at the most important part of the economy – the entrepreneurial part,” said Inc. 5,000 Project Manager Jim Melloan. “The expansion of the list has allowed us to tell the stories of larger companies, older companies, and a wealth of companies in industries like Manufacturing and Construction that are underreported in the business media.”
Originally founded in 1974 as a regional graphic arts dealer, La Crosse Litho Supply was purchased in 1999 by Randall M. Peters and has realized growth in annual sales of over tenfold. La Crosse Litho Supply relocated its national headquarters from La Crosse, Wisconsin, to Pewaukee, Wisconsin, in late 2000. To better serve its customers, the company moved its Pewaukee headquarters to its brand new facility in Sussex, Wisconsin, in August 2007.
La Crosse Litho Supply, LLC maintains and utilizes its La Crosse facility to service the western Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa markets; the Sussex location primarily services the eastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois markets and the expanding national customer base.
“La Crosse Litho Supply is dedicated to providing our customers with premium graphic arts equipment, supplies and service that are second-to-none,” said Randall M. Peters, President. “It is this philosophy that has allowed our company to grow exponentially year after year and created the need for a new facility.”
Largely a result of La Crosse Litho Supply’s strong growth, the new national headquarters building is capable of housing up to 48,000 square feet of technical, warehouse and office space. This facility expands the company headquarters and warehouse space by almost three times their previous size. Space has been allocated to provide room for additional expansion, both in terms of the warehouse and for future new employees.
Methodology
The 2007 Inc. 5000 list measures revenue growth from 2003 through 2006. To qualify, companies had to be U.S.-based and privately held, independent – not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies – as of December 31, 2006, and have had at least $200,000 in revenue in 2003, and $2 million in 2006.

LA CROSSE LITHO SUPPLY MARKETS NEW SOLUTIONS
La Crosse Litho Supply, LLC, Pewaukee, WI has been awarded the exclusive rights to market Uni-ram press solvent recycling products, Alwan Color Expertise and color management solutions, and InkZone products in the four-state area of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois and Iowa. The premium lithographic company offers Uni-ram’s environmentally-friendly print solvent recycler units BB30G (25-liter) and DB100G (80-liter), Alwan prepress solutions featuring CMYK Optimizer™, and InkZone solutions with a focus on Ink Presetting Systems.
UNI-RAM PRESS SOLVENT RECYCLING PRODUCTS
Uni-ram is a world leader in the manufacturing of solvent recyclers. Solvent recycling, an off-press self-contained process, effectively cleans used solvent by removing the absorbed materials - including water, ink and debris. The clean, recycled solvent can be used over and over without a loss in cleaning power. The segregated distilled water, if present, is disposed to the drain with permission. The segregated concentrated ink and debris is collected for off-site disposal.
With the use of a Uni-ram recycler, solvent waste transported off-site drops by 95% while press / flexo solvent purchases are reduced by a minimum of 90% and the cost of disposal drops near zero. Other advantages of using the Uni-ram recycling device are that the printer improves its Waste Generator status with Environmental agencies and helps local government achieve waste reduction goals. The printer no longer has to complete a waste manifest and no longer has the liability for off-site transportation of its waste. Recycling assists the printer in complying with ISO 14000 initiatives.
ALWAN CMYK OPTIMIZER™
Alwan CMYK Optimizer is a preflight check software that allows a printer to check and automatically correct the colors and ink weight characteristics of incoming files before sending them to film or plate. As printers often deal with client files that do not print well on press, CMYK Optimizer can be part of a color management and process control solution.
Problem client files may be caused by any one of a number of items - a mismatch between color separation and printing press profiles, a mismatch between separation dot gain and printing substrate actual dot gain, ink values contained in the files not being appropriate for the destination press and paper, and more. Alwan CMYK Optimizer addresses these and other issues through its innovative and original features not found on other color management software.
CMYK Optimizer creates compliant output files to match the printing press requirements, with both improved printability and shorter make ready time. Use of CMYK Optimizer also improves color rendering and quality, providing a better match with the color managed proof. By solving nearly all set-off problems due to high ink weights, up to 30% in ink savings can be realized.
INKZONE SOLUTIONS
InkZone bridges prepress and the pressroom to deliver accurate ink presetting across multiple press types for most any prepress workflow. No other solution delivers the performance and versatility with ROI capabilities as that of InkZone. When compared to manual ink key settings or plate scanners, digital ink presetting saves time, improves accuracy and is simpler to use providing extremely fast returns on investments.
Litho print shops that use a prepress workflow with digitally-imposed layouts can save hours on each make ready with the accurate presetting of InkZone solutions. InkZone reduces make ready time by preparing the precise ink key openings based on RIP-generated image content in conjunction with customized print parameters. These precise color adjustments help to improve productivity and to reduce wasted materials.
With support for most any brand and age of press, InkZone supports job storage media format for most older presses by adding the benefits of CIP 3/CIP 4 ink preset capability. InkZone also features a rugged workstation for plateroom or pressroom use with an LCD touch-screen display.
